An elephant is often an integral part of a village or                            community. Seen not just a means of transportation the                    Phnong view a villages elephant as physical                                    representation of a spirit. A sick elephant is thought to                    represent a wrong carried out by a man or woman and                  not by mal-treatment or misuse.
